Erika and I are doing a giveaway! We want to giveaway something that represents who we are outside of photography! Think of it as a way to get to know us better We are avid campers and backpackers and when we’re doing just about anything outdoors we love to bring along our hammocks! Fort Snelling State Park Engagement Session

Courtney and Kevin were absolutely so much fun to get to know! Apparently the park is where they had their second date. Kevin and Courtney met on eHarmony, so their first date was at a big more of a public place but for their second date they met at the park to go for a run. So we spent the afternoon walking through the park and taking photos… oh yeah and a little kung fu! Kevin and Courtney, thank you for being awesome people and especially for the sweet kung fu photos

Learning To Love Again…

Well we apparently haven’t stayed committed to our new year resolution of posting something personal each week! Today we’re getting back to doing that! Lately we have been loving Mat Kearney’s latest album and I just wanted to share the song that I’ve been listening to all morning! We’ll get back to posting a couple times a week! Parker & Katie’s Engagement Session!

I’m so excited that Katie and Parker decided to work with us! First of all, Parker is a pilot… pretty dang cool, huh! Anyways, it turns out Erika and I went to high school with Parker and we didn’t even realize it! okay, okay, so that’s enough bragging about how cool Parker and Katie are..now on to the session. We started the session around Saint Anthony Main, but we also drove to lake Nokomis for some photos. The park is close to the airport and means a lot to Katie and Parker. One of my favorite photos from the session is when I have them lying down and They are looking up at a passing by plane! Anyways, we are so excited to photograph Katie and Parker’s wedding this year!

We photographed Andy and Amanda’s wedding a few years ago, and then Amanda’s maternity session, so when they asked us to photograph their baby boy we were so thrilled! We absolutely love when clients keep coming back through the years and we get to see couples turn into families and then watch the families grow!

Dave & Lieu’s Wedding

Dave and Lieu are two of the nicest and funniest people you’ll ever meet! Erika and I just seem to be so lucky, all our couples have a great sense of humor! We started the day at the Brian Graham Salon, which is now my favorite salon! Once the entire wedding party got together the jokes and laughter filled the day. I felt like this was one of those really special weddings where everyone in the bridal party could have been our friends! The wedding and reception were both held at the Metropolitan Ballroom. It was just so much fun to work with these two! Enjoy the photos!

Family Hike

This winter has been incredibly strange to say the least. This past week we decided to take advantage of the unusually warm weather and go for a family hike at Afton State Park. It was a balmy 33 degrees and we bundled the kids up pretty good and set out on our hike. after about 2 miles our oldest son, Noah got too warm and took his coat off. I’ve read that kids are really good at regulating their own temperature, so we went along with it and let him keep his coat off. Erika had baby Andrew strapped to her front. He was bundled up really well, and erika wore my winter coat so she would have room to zip it up over him. It all worked great! The kids were all warm and had a blast. We even ended up hiking to the campsites and having a campfire that the two older boys helped gather wood for! And again I must put a photo disclaimer… these photos were taken with an iPhone We really need to start taking a nice camera with us!

Winter Camping In Minnesota

As this weeks “just for fun” post I wanted to share my camping trip with you all! Erika and I were all set to head to the Superior Hiking Trail for a weekend of camping and hiking , but at the last minute our babysitter fell through! So I ended up going to the hammock forums winter hang by myself. There were about 20 people camping with me in the forests of Sturgeon Lake, MN. The night time low got down to -15 degrees!! That’s the coldest I’ve ever camped and to my surprise I was toasty warm in my hammock! It was a lot of fun getting to meet a bunch of new people and see some friends I’ve met at these get togethers in the past. We had people come from all around the country with the farthest being two people from North Carolina! Enjoy the photos!

Being that this is a photography blog I want to post a disclaimer that the photos in this post were taken with point and shoot camera No way was I going to lug around all my camera gear with me on the trail!

The above photo was taken in the morning right after we put wood on the fire. It smoldered a bit before catching which caused a lot of smoke!
